Pelargonium is one of the most effective of all herbal medicines for colds, sore throat, sinusitis and acute bronchitis, and it’s extracted from a South African plant, Pelargonium sidoides. It is an antiviral, antibacterial and increases the activity of white blood cells which target and destroy infection. It also improves lung function by blocking adhesin molecules which bacteria stick to in the lungs, preventing infection and helping to clear it faster.

Dietary sources of selenium: The best food source of selenium is Brazil nuts. Selenium is also found in fish, poultry, meats (especially game), mushrooms, onions, garlic, broccoli and cabbage. However South African soil is extremely deficient in selenium so it’s unlikely you will get enough from food. Taking a daily supplement is one way to protect yourself.
